Feeling...

kind of like my head fell off the past week or so.
I have been dealing with some serious headaches and have been going back and forth on what could be causing them...all the worst scenarios of course. Made a doctors appt. for Friday and I guess we'll see what happens.

Anyway, I found these cool doll heads in my stash of unopened boxes and put them up on a shelf in my studio...and I love them. They are a little bit creepy and a little bit coooool. dont'cha think?

I want to figure out what to do with these cool heads...but it's got to be something really amazing....what cool things are you finding in your studio lately???

Have you started working on your New Year's resolutions, yet?
I am getting things started and will share more soon.

Sleep tight.

banner art

Here is something new.
If you need a new idea on what to make art on...like YOU need any new ideas.
anyway,
I had planned to make some fun bannersout of this heavy chipboard - you know with words on them but ran out of time...
I decided to use the banner shapes to make individual pieces of art for my pottery buddies ( love those guys)
gathered a bunch of fun papers, scrapbooking papers (jenni bowlin), doilies, clip art images of the madonna, ribbon (seam binding), chipboard birds (meoldy ross) word stickers, vintage piano papers

just go to town...
I used matte medium to glue down the papers and such in pretty ways...whatever appeals to you. once the banners dried I sanded the edges with an emory?board and inked the entire banner with a sponge and some distress inks by tim holtz.

I added the image of Mary and inked the edges and used the medium to glue it down then added the bird chipboard element (after I inked it with distress inks in red) and I used hot glue for that...
punched holes in the corners of the banners and used seam binding for the ribbon hanger.

What do you think?
My buddies loved them
and I wrote them a small silly message on the back...
A sweet and quick Christmas gift for some special peeps... you should try it.

Have you gotten all your shopping done and wrapped - hey why not try handmade...its cheaper and more meaningful I think...

have a great night.

Never to young

to craft!
Here is a super simple project you can do with your kids.
all you need are strips of fabric scraps (just long enough to tie a knot in the middle)
a wreath shape - this is a green floral styrofoam wreath, ribbon and glue.

1st: tie fabric scraps into knots - then begin to glue them to the wreath
you could use white tacky glue and it would take a little longer to dry but we used hot glue

She's 8 and she wanted to use the glue gun by herself ( I was right next to her) she did burn her fingers a little but not enough to stop...perhaps using a skewer would be helpful when pushing the fabric into the glue (less burns?)
Let me say that she wanted to continue and I offered to squirt the glue for her but she said she could do it. (yeah for her)
She was so proud of herself...

Here are the supplies we used.

here is the wreath all done.
Cute eh?
I added the bow and the ribbon.
I hung it on her door to her room...now she'll have a small heirloom
that she made.
Love that.

Playing with Tim!

Gasp! I finally got to sit down and play with Tim Holtz' 12 days of tags and
I have to tell you that I tried quite a few times to make something I really
LOVED!

Before you say anything...I know this is not one of his tags but I
was dead set on creating a TIM "inspired" tag...on my own.
It was alot harder than I thought.
I used his ink, grungeboard and trinkets.

This was a take on his day 2 or 3 tag. Didn't have all the right stuff but still
was able to get it close. I like the way these tags came out.

Have to say that I don't think I could part with these. I think these are a small
labor of love. What do you think?

I hope you are getting your craft on...
Have a swell day.

Christmas decorating

Amist all the decorating in our house I wanted to share a really simple
Christmas time banner you can make up and place in anywhere in your house.
I think this would make a really cute gift for friends too.

All you need is some circular tags ( they come white)
some glmmer mist or ink and some alphabet stamps
and either some jute or ribbon to hang it from.
Ready: Ink up your tags in any shade you want...

If you have a mister thingy than it happens really quick.

Next stamp out your MERRY CHRISTMAS saying...

cute eh?
this was a ransom font style stamp set

The best part about using these cute little tags is that you can use the string they came with to tie them to the ribbon or juste you will hang the banner up with.
I told you really simple.

And here she is above my t.v.

What do you think?
Any simple Christmas ideas you have to share?
I am oh so very interested.

Have a splendid day!
